Tom Carr

After travelling overseas for two years while in his 20s, Tom came back to Australia in 2005 and played semi-professional football with the Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL. His career in accounting has been a bit of a whirlwind: He went back to university (while working for Qantas), completed the chartered accounting program, joined the team at Oreon and became a Partner by 2014.

Tom regularly meets with clients, but also assists his team members in developing their own skills and expertise so they can be different points of contact for clients to lean on when they need help. Known for being an approachable hard worker who loves to help, Tom gets great satisfaction from helping clients and colleagues achieve results, and he says that the most enjoyable part of his job is being able to offer solutions for business owners and then seeing that advice help them achieve their own goals.

In his role as a Partner, Tom is responsible for the admin and HR functions of the business – including reporting, funding, cash flow, forecasting, and financial systems – and overseeing his own team, which serves clients in the professional sports, agriculture, and medical industries, as well as many family-owned businesses in all sectors of the economy around Adelaide.
